The Art of Elliot Downs

Elliott Downs believes that art belongs to everyone; it doesn’t have to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or be hoarded by collectors, but be avaible to everyone at reasonable prices, such as the cost of materials. Growing up with an art teacher mother and a father as the director of The Saw Mill Gallery at JMU, he was exposed to various types of art at an early age, experimenting with mixed media, including spray paint, stencil and acryllic.  His influences range from Andy Warhol and Salvidor Dali to Wess Freed and David Sandlin. Originally from Harrisonburg but currently residing in Churchville, VA., Elliott recently opened Eastwood Screenprinting with John Amato. Gone would like to add that Elliott Downs is a swell guy brimming with an unquenchable talent and suggest that you keep an eye on him; not just because he’s a handsome devil, but because his mix of graffiti/flash meets southern-psychedelia might show up on your wall or t-shirt or in your record collection before you realize.
